Earth Day is Everyday
April 12 2012
You’ve seen the news, watched the documentaries and heard about climate change, so we don’t need to tell you there are so many reasons we all need to be environmentally conscious.
Next Sunday April 22 is Earth Day, a day to make a concerted effort and take part in a clean-up effort, raise awareness on the issues affecting our planet or one of the endless opportunities to help make Earth a sustainable planet for future generations.
Almost every school in Canada takes part in activities to promote Earth Day so now is your chance to get involved! Although Earth Day is officially on a Sunday this year, your school may still have Earth Day events for you to take part in. Find out what’s going on or suggest an activity and spearhead its implementation – Earth Day Canada’s website has all the information you could possibly need to help get you started. Get inspired! Check out the BBC series Planet Earth which offers stunning visuals, never-before-seen footage and some fascinating facts about life on Earth. You will have a new found appreciation for the world we live in after just one episode. Find out what it’s all about: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/planet-earth-the-complete-bbc-series/
Earth Day provides a great international platform to stage events and projects that bring awareness to the environmental challenges we face as our daily actions distress our planet but it’s important to keep in mind that there are things we can do on a daily basis, not just on Earth Day. Happy Earth Day everyone!
